Beginner Gun Safety vs. License to Carry
A common question we get is whether a new shooter should just take a Texas LTC class. The short answer is no.
Our gun safety courses are designed to teach you how to shoot and handle a weapon safely.
The Texas LTC class focuses strictly on the legalities of carrying a firearm and requires a passing score on a live-fire proficiency test. The state requires you to already be proficient with your handgun before taking the LTC exam.
If your goal is to become safe and comfortable around firearms, our safety classes are the perfect starting point. If you already handle firearms safely and want to prepare for concealed carry, check out our Texas concealed carry classes.
TEXAS LTC Class
FAQs
Not at all. Our basic handgun and rifle safety classes are built specifically for beginners and first-time gun owners. We assume zero prior knowledge and will walk you through everything step-by-step.
No, you do not need your own firearm. We have a wide variety of handguns and rifles available for rent at the range counter. This is a great way to try out different firearms before deciding what to buy.
All classes take place at the GRITR Range facility, located at 7901 Blvd 26, North Richland Hills, TX 76180, right in the heart of the DFW metroplex.
While this class does not grant you a License to Carry, it is the perfect stepping stone. The Texas LTC course requires you to pass a live-fire proficiency test. Our beginner gun classes give you the shooting fundamentals and confidence required to easily pass that shooting exam.
