What does the typical journey look like for a responsible defense firearm owner?
Basic
The journey always begins with gun safety training. Here, they drill into the fundamental safety rules and get a grip on the basics of how guns operate and how to shoot them.
Intermediate
After nailing the basics, the next move is typically taking a defensive shooting course.
Some folks are content with the skills they’ve picked up in beginner’s classes and focus on honing those skills at the shooting range. But they’re missing a crucial piece of the puzzle: the skill of controlling your mind and body under pressure, which is vital when it comes to personal defense. Sure, with enough time spent at the range, their speed and accuracy naturally improve. Yet, without the know-how to face a real threat head-on, they’re taking a huge risk with their safety.
Advanced
So, for a good number of people, wrapping up a defense course marks the end of their training journey. But not for everyone! For many, this is where the fun really begins. Armed with newfound confidence in handling and shooting their firearms, the initial frustration and fear of recoil fade, making room for curiosity and the seedlings of a genuine passion for firearms.
So, what’s next after the defense course? It’s time to dive deeper into specific areas like tactical shooting, home defense, CQB training, group room clearing, and more.

Now, let us introduce you to the options for seasoned shooters available at GRITR Range.
Tactical Training in a Dedicated Facility
Seeing a surge in interest in all kinds of tactical activities, we’ve added a special feature to our shooting range – the GRITR Shoot House. This is a modular training system designed specifically for simulating various law enforcement and military CQC scenarios.
Let’s break down what the Shoot House is all about:
1. Customizable training facility
It’s an indoor facility equipped with walls that can be moved around to create custom training layouts. This flexible system is brought to you by Trango Systems, known for its smart tactical combat training infrastructures.
This is our GRITR Shoot House.
Here’s what Trango Systems does.
2. Safety is a priority
At the Shoot House, real firearms and live ammo are off-limits. To ensure a completely safe training environment, we use highly realistic replicas of well-known firearms that shoot paint munitions instead of live rounds. These training weapons are supplied by Unit Solutions, a company recognized for equipping the U.S. Special Operations Command, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Marine Corps with its training rifles.
3. AR-style training rifles
The M4 training rifles from Unit Solutions offer an authentic trigger pull and recoil experience. This means participants can engage in comprehensive AR-style SBR / AR-pistol / CQB rifle training without any of the risks involved.
In short, the Shoot House offers a safe yet immersive environment for tactical training, closely mirroring real-life situations.
